How to Start a produce co-op

Saturday, June 22 9:30am-10:30am

Want to learn how to organize a produce co-op to save money, eat healthy and shop local from our South Carolina farmers?

Support local farmers

If you want to know how to organize a produce co-op, this is your chance to learn!

We had so many inquiries about starting a produce co-op we asked our "Let's Eat!" guest blogger Heather Hardy to come to Athlete's Arena Irmo (3541 Dreher Shoals Rd., Irmo) and share tips on how to get one started. This hour-long presentation is scheduled for Saturday, June 22 beginning at 9:30AM.

In addition to learning how easy it can be to start a co-op, Adam Frick with West Ridge Farms in Little Mountain, SC will talk about the benefits of grass-fed beef and Jacquelyn McHugh-Fauerbach, editor of "Edible Columbia", will talk about what it means to eat local. Yes! Please support your local businesses and farmers. Eat, Drink, Think. Local.

Plus, everyone who attends the event will receive a bag chopped full of information on healthy living AND items from of our "Let's Eat!" guest bloggers. One lucky person will take home a grass-fed beef package from West Ridge Farms valued at $60. Also, everyone who attends will recieve a free bunch of fresh beets and a recipe for delicious apple and beet salad prepared by Heather Hardy. If you don't love beets now, you will LOVE them after you have a taste of this refreshing salad which is prepared frequently at the Hardy house!

Lastly, Adam Frick from West Ridge Farms will be grilling up his grass-fed beef product for you to sample. It's lean and delicious! WRF will also have discounted beef packages for those who attend the event to purchase or order.

Make plans to attend this one hour event. Organizing and participating in a co-op is a great way to save money, eat healthy and shop local from our South Carolina farmers!

This is a FREE event and you do not have to be a member of Athlete's Arena to attend. For more information, please contact Heather Kobus at HeatherK@athletesarena.com, or call 803.750.9036 or visit our Facebook events.

We are excited to be hosting this event. Athlete’s Arena has been in business since 2005 and over the last 14 years we have been committed to helping build a better, stronger and healthier community and supporting local businesses. #strongertogether
